Business Cat ain't no joke
The Lore of BizCat
Business Cat is a classic advice animal image macro: a cat in a necktie posed in front of a starburst background, with a caption describing something an office boss would say or do, twisted through a feline brain.
It all started on January 1st, 2011, when a Something Awful user named Apple Jax posted a photo of her boyfriend Daniel Vecchitto’s cat, Emilio, in a "post your cat pictures" thread. Emilio was wearing a tie he had gotten for Christmas from an Etsy shop called Whisker Kisses. A few days later the picture was reposted to Reddit under the title "Business Cat." It quickly landed on MemeGenerator, and a second Reddit thread titled "Business Cat ain’t no joke" became the very first image macro, captioned "No LOL here, get your ass in my office."
From there it exploded. I Can Has Cheezburger featured him, then Urlesque, Buzzfeed, Uproxx and Smosh all picked him up through early 2011. Daniel even bought the domain yobusinesscat.com, and the Quickmeme page racked up more than six thousand submissions by the end of the year. A household pet who also happens to run a multibillion dollar corporation. Ain’t no joke.
$BIZCAT carries that energy on chain: fully feline, fully corporate, zero HR department. Read the full thread on X and follow the @BusinessCatComm community.
